Curriculum highlights

Dear Families and Friends,

We've just completed a wonderful first week of school with our new friends! Hooray!

This week, our main focus has been on establishing essential classroom routines and encouraging a welcoming environment. We know that the transition to school from being at home with family is very difficult especially for infants. So we dedicated this week on providing a sense of comfort and building trust, both with their friends and teachers.

On Monday, we did first-day-of-school photographs to remember this special day for them. Friends were introduced to daily classroom routines, and met their new friends and teachers.

On Tuesday, we focused on promoting positive peer interaction through guided play. We incorporated singing fun and easy songs, which supports language development and auditory skills, and introduced the circle time routine. We also began practicing sitting on their chairs during circle time as a foundational skill for focused activities.

On Wednesday, we had fun playing with blocks and other toys, encouraging imaginative thinking and social interaction. We also did a dramatic play where we showed how to share toys and play with friends nicely.  It was also our first time visiting the park together! It was very challenging but we did it!

On Thursday, we were doing really well at singing class songs and sticking our pictures on our attendance wall. We also introduced two kinds of weather; sunny and cloudy! We all looked outside to check the weather and sang the weather song altogether.

Then on Friday, we ended our wonderful week with a tactile hand-painting activity. Learning about the color yellow and joyfully got our hands wet and painted together, exploring our senses!

It has been wonderful to observe friends’ increasing comfort and engagement throughout the week. Thank you for your help and support! We look forward to another beautiful week ahead. Have a wonderful weekend!
