Hello Dolphin friends and families!
This was our first week of school! The students entered a new room with decorations all over the wall. They all are getting used to everything so fast! As we mentioned in the Class name introductions, our students are the Dolphins! That is because they are playful, social, and highly intelligent, much like preschoolers who are eager to learn and interact. We are incredibly excited to be teaching your kids this school year!

- Thank you for labeling your child's belongings for school. Please make sure even small items are labeled.
Morning & Afternoon Meeting
The first week of school we used the beginning of our day to talk about classroom rules, looked at what the weather was, checked what day it was, and assigned class jobs for our boys and girls! Additionally, we danced together, sang songs together, and seen who could sit down and stand up the fastest. The students always had such a happy excited look on their face when practicing to sit crisscross applesauce. Even if they come into class crying, the morning meeting always gets them happy and ready to participate!
Language and Literacy
For the first week, our class focused on reviewing the alphabet, working on name recognition, and the letter s! We introduced the kids to the Jolly Phonics songs and stories that we will use for our literacy lessons!
Math
For math, we focused on counting and recognizing our numbers 1-10, colors, and shapes! We ran around the room looking for different colors to bring back to our tables. We practiced all of the colors of the rainbow as well as black and white. They really enjoyed talking about shapes! Every time we talked about shapes they were always yelling the names as loud as they could!
Additionally, we started to talk about matching things that are the same! They got it pretty quickly! Most of our friends can count, and find the numbers in the class!
Topic Exploration
The theme for week one of classes was 'Welcome to School'. This involved talking about how things work in the classroom!
The students made a crown to take home for their first day of school! We also practiced listening skills with the 'freeze dance'! They really enjoyed dancing then seeing who could be the first to stop when the video said freeze! We colored a dolphin! We used this as a way to work on our finger grip and strength, as well as practice coloring. We will cut those dolphins out and hang them up on our door, so keep an eye out!
Next week our theme will be Spring! So we will be learning all about springtime!
Free Play!
Here are some pictures of our friends enjoying their playtime! We played in the park and the big room this week! They really enjoyed seeing all the people waving at them while walking to the park!
Book of the Week
Our Book of the week was Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What do you see? They really enjoyed seeing all the animals in the book.
