Hello Dolphin friends and families!
Morning & Afternoon Meeting
For morning meetings this week we continued to talk about classroom rules, looked at the weather, and assigned glass jobs for our boys and girls. However, this week we started to talk about the months of the year and feelings! We sing the months of the year song and the feelings song and practice trying to match the faces we see in the video! We are still practicing siting crisscross applesauce, but they are getting the hang of it really fast! Everyone is starting to come into class very excitedly!
Language and Literacy
This week, we focused on tracing, writing our name, and practicing the short vowel a! We have continued using Jolly Phonics with singing the letter songs and reading the stories that are in the lessons!
Math
This week, we continued to focus on counting and recognizing numbers 1-10, colors, and shapes! This week we had tubs for students to run and grab specific colors and throw the toys into the tubs. They are very confident with saying color names now. They love saying what their favorite color is!
Additionally, we have started to talk about things that are 'different'! They also understood this pretty quickly. They are catching on very very quickly!
Topic Exploration
The theme for this week was Spring! This involves talking about spring and that it is when flowers and plants grow big!
The students made cherry blossom trees. They also made little hand birds to put in their cherry blossom trees! We practiced listening skills with games like mario run, where the students have to run in place and dodge and jump to make it to the end! We also used this time to do more dances! They really enjoy the Freeze dance, so we still do that, but now we do different dances to work on movement.
Free Play!
Here are some pictures of our friends enjoying their playtime. We played in both the big room and the park this week. They really enjoyed seeing the cherry blossoms as we walked to the park!
Book of the Week
Our Book of the week was That's (Not) Mine. They really enjoy talking about what each animal is doing in the story!
