 Week 4 Theme:

Our Big theme for this month is Spring. For our Week 4, we talked about "Seeds and Sprouts" and for Week 5, we talked about Spring flowers and weather which all makes the season beautifulWhat a fantastic week of learning about planting and caring for our green friends! 🌱

On Wednesday, we started our planting journey by playing with pretend materials like shredded papers for soil and grasses for tactile learning experience. Starfish friends were encouraged to be curious and explore the materials in the bin by themselves.

On Thursday, we then leveled up our play with real materials such as soil. We showed how plants are formed and it is through planting a seed (pompoms) into a pot with soil. We used carrots as an example of a spring plant and friends were surprised to see carrots bloomed from pompom seeds. Friends used spoons, cups, and bowls to practice digging, scooping, and pouring from one place to another.

On Friday, we learned more about some common things we see in Spring in our environment such as carrots, bunnies, tulips and more. Then to wrap up our planting week, we got to observe a real plant up close and even helped water it!

 Week 5 Theme:

On Monday, we made a lovely cherry blossom craft! We used the bottom parts of water bottles to create beautiful flower petals for our trees. It was a wonderful way to explore shapes and textures.

On Tuesday, we had a delightful "flower soup" activity! Starfish friends enjoyed mixing water and flower petals and engaging in imaginative pretend cooking. What a fun sensory experience!

On Wednesday, we connected our flowers and weather theme with the "5 Little Flowers" finger play. We talked about how sun and rain help our flowers! We also had some time to do color sorting of flowers. Yay!

On Thursday, we had a very nice group painting activity! Everyone sat so nicely together around the table for water painting our rainy day scene. Lots of splashing and "whoosh" sounds as we painted and sang to the song "Rain Rain Go Away".

On Friday, to wrap up our theme, we made beautiful flower sun catchers! We enjoyed picking up flower petals and leaves using our little fingers and placing them onto our laminating pouches. We had fun reading lots of books and singing and dancing to different songs this week! What a wonderful week :)
