Transportation : Water

Curriculum highlights

This week we made a splash exploring Water Transportation with our toddlers! Our activities were full of movement, creativity, and language-building moments, all inspired by boats, submarines and everything that floats.

On Monday, we kick started our week with a literacy activity. B for boat. This was a brief introduction to what we will be focusing on during the week. They had to make crafts that are boat-like and earn new words for the week : row boat, sail boat, kayak, canoe, ship and submarine. The idea was to increase their vocabulary when it comes to sea transportation so that everything is not a boat!

On Tuesday, as we normally do our sensory activity, this time we decided to experiment and see what floats or sinks? We wanted to know how boats make it across the ocean without going down ( sink). This was a fun and fascinating activity where our toddlers got to explore the properties of water and the capabilities of other objects. They also learnt new words : float and sink.

On Wednesday, it was craft day! We do love to make different crafts and we made a submarine. This was by far the most fascinating water transportation we learnt about this week.

On Thursday, we finally had our visit to the Fire Station. This was a big adventure for both our Seahorse and Starfish friends. They enjoyed the view from a closer point. Their cooperation was the best and we appreciate it the most. They volunteered to try to hold the hose, try on some cool firemen uniforms as well! With the fire truck song being a theme song, they could easily relate to the events at the fire station.
