Week 19 - September 19, 2025

Hello, Orca Class families!

Morning & Afternoon Meeting

Our day started having a guessing game of our classroom rules wherein the teacher shared an example of a misbehavior and what classroom rule should we use to correct our behavior. Everyone were so good at telling which rule should be used.  Our morning meetings this week were truly meaningful! Then, we started singing good morning song wherein we formed a circle and danced together as we say hello to everyone. It was such a joy seeing them laughing and holding each others' hands to begin our day. It was followed by checking our calendar time, assigning class jobs, doing a movement song and sharing about our whereabouts through our Class Dojo photos. Moreover, we had our morning assembly headed by our Starfish teachers teaching us how to be a risk-taker through a guess the box activity. Our Orca friends had a box filled with pine cones. In addition, we had a Traffic seminar this Friday and they learned so much about being safe too in our environment.

In the afternoon, we continued our Term 2  Show and Tell  this week. It was wonderful that our friends' different objects and photos about their favorite animals from Blue group. It was engaging and meaningful as we tried to guess what our friends brought/showed. Next week , it will be Red group's turn. We ended our day through reading a storybook and singing a goodbye song.

Language & Literacy

Pre-K

These are the activities we did from last week to this week. To jumpstart our Literacy time , we started talking about our Raz-Kids book entitled, "Games we Play". We described the pictures and read aloud the words with everyone. Then, we did our Jolly Phonics classroom and talked about phonics ``Vv`` this week through activities like singing a song, beginning ``Vv`` for volcano craft through making the V shape and pasting pictures with beginning sound, and a phonics worksheet. In addition, we  did a related Raz-Kids worksheet. We aimed to enhance not only their literacy facet but also to lengthen their attention span and enhanced their focus and concentration which is essential to develop their skills and bodies holistically.

Kinder

These are the activities we did for this week.  To jumpstart our Literacy time , we started talking about our Raz-Kids book entitled, "I Did Not Give Up". We described the pictures and read aloud the sentences.  It was such a delight how Kinder students learn ask more questions as they began to expand their vocabulary words through reading.  Then, we talked about  Digraph SH through Jolly Phonics Classroom, digraph song, I SPY SH words,  and made a ship craft to enhance our understanding , and did some related Raz-Kids worksheets.  Last, we had a CVC reading comprehension to practice reading fluency.

Maths

Pre-K

For Week 12, the Pre-K students continued to learn about sorting and matching. This week, we learned about other ways that we have seen matching around us such as completing a puzzle, sorting and matching familiar animals, completing a picture, and even making our own original puzzle. Additionally, we played a number of games such as a pattern-based bean bag toss in which students had to correctly aim for the next shape of the pattern shown and sorting patterns as a group. We also made a number of crafts such as small ice cream cones and posters that involved pattern-recognition and counting up to 10. These activities helped us reinforce what the students know and provide new opportunities to explore and describe shapes, learn about spatial awareness, and develop basic measurement skills.

Kinder

For Week 19, Kinder students learned our numbers up to 30. Many of our students are able to recognize and count out loud up to 30 already, but we also practiced counting down, writing the numbers as well as counting objects up to 30 this week. We also played a number of games to provide our students ample opportunity to hone their understanding of addition and subtraction with numbers up to 20. In addition to fine tuning our comfort with numbers, we reinforced pattern recognition by introducing more difficult pattern styles such as the ABC, AABBCC, and AABAAB patterns. We made a number of crafts based on counting and making our own patterns as much of a child's mathematical learning happens during playful activities and exploration, providing firsthand experiences with mathematical concepts.

Topic Exploration

This week, we talked about Ball Sports like tennis, basketball and soccer. To jumpstart, we read a book entitled, "Curious George Plays Soccer". Then we did different activities such as coloring sports poster, basketball kendama, tennis paper plate craft and mix-painting with our chosen colors, and playing with a tennis racket and a balloon.  Since our tennis paper plate craft have not fully dried yet, we opted to play with it next week during our Big room time. Next week, we will be talking about Winter sports.
