Hello, Orca Class families!
Morning & Afternoon Meeting
Our morning meetings this week were truly engaging and meaningful! Then, we started singing good morning song wherein we formed a circle and danced together as we say hello to everyone. It was such a joy seeing them laughing and holding each others' hands to begin our day. It was followed by checking our calendar time, assigning class jobs, doing a movement song and sharing about our whereabouts through our Class Dojo photos. This week too, we had our Morning assembly in the Big Room and opened up about our Winter party event this week. Hence, today was our Winter party and our Last Day for Term 2. In this blog, you will be able to view some snippets from our party held a while ago.
In the afternoon, we continued our Term 2 Show and Tell this week. It was wonderful that our friends' different objects and photos about something from our Winter from Blue group. It was engaging and meaningful as we tried to guess what our friends brought/showed. Our friends were so curious and guessed a lot of winter things that the knew. Next year , we will not have our Show and tell, thus, we will have it the week after. We ended our day through reading a storybook and singing a goodbye song.
Language & Literacy
Pre-K
For this week, we talked about our Raz-Kids book entitled, "A Cold Day" and did a phonics worksheet related with Raz-Kids. We described the pictures and read aloud the words with everyone. Then, we did a review week through revisiting the phonics we learned and continuously singing our phonics song and vowels song to enhance our phonics recognition. In addition, we did a horse craft to anticipate for our New Year's celebration.

For the last week of term 2 we took some time to review previously covered topics, mainly focusing on addition and shape identification. This gave us the opportunity to make winter related crafts such as snow globes (identifying them as spheres) and making booklets dedicated to understanding cuboids.

For the last week of term 2 we reviewed previously covered topics, revisiting some of our favorites such as currency and 3D shapes. These topics allotted us the opportunity to role-play shopping at a conbini and make winter related crafts such as a snow man (identifying the body parts as spheres, it's nose as a cone, and hat as a cylinder). We supplemented our studies with additional activities provided by Twinkl.
