Hello, Orca Class families!
Morning & Afternoon Meeting
Our morning meetings this week were truly engaging and meaningful! Then, we started singing good morning song wherein we formed a circle and danced together as we say hello to everyone. It was such a joy seeing them laughing and holding each others' hands to begin our day. It was followed by checking our calendar time, assigning class jobs, doing a movement song and sharing about our whereabouts through our Class Dojo photos.
In the afternoon, we continued our Term 3 Show and Tell this week about their favorite things to show our differences. It was wonderful that our friends' brought different things like dinosaur, stuff toy, and other toys from Red group. It was engaging and meaningful as we tried to guess what our friends brought/showed. Our friends were so curious and guessed a lot like why they chose it or asking about its shape and size. We ended our day through reading a storybook and singing a goodbye song. Next week, it will still be their favorite toy to show our differences among our friends.
Language & Literacy
Pre-K
For this week, we talked about our Raz-Kids book entitled, "My Tree House" and did a comprehension worksheet related with Raz-Kids. We described the pictures and read aloud the words with everyone. Then, we learned a new phonics "ap" through song and a story, made a cap craft through to practice blending and sounding out the words, did a phonics worksheet, and our CVC booklets to hone reading fluency and spelling.

For this week, we talked about our Raz-Kids book entitled, "Make a Tree Friend" and did a homophones worksheet related with Raz-Kids. We described the pictures and read aloud the words with everyone. Then, we learned a new phonics "pl" through singing a song, did a pl worksheet, did a plane craft using toilet paper roll, and our CVC booklets as a form of review. Last, we used this time to practice for our graduation day too. Each one of them practiced and sang well our song too.
Maths
Pre-K
For Week 40, we focused on learning how to tell the time and read analogue clocks. To accomplish this we studied the functions of the big and small hands of a clock and practiced some skip counting as each increment of the clock represents 5 minutes, allowing us to skip count by 5s, up until 60. We became more familiar with the functions and units of a standard clock (such as the roles of the big and small hands, how they represent hours and minutes). We used physical clocks to help us answer questions regarding time and become more familiar with reading time. We made a number of crafts, played many games, and participated in interactive presentations in order to learn how to effectively read time.

We also reviewed how P.M. and A.M function, representing morning, afternoon, and evening. We also covered common terms such as, "half past..." which represents 30 minutes after an hour. To reinforce our lessons, we played new games, completed worksheets, and made many crafts that we assembled, decorated, and used to tell time.
Topic Exploration
For this week, we talked about `Differences Around Us`. We read and listened to stories like, `I Like Myself by Karen Beaumont` and Sesame Street`s We Are Different, We Are the Same`. Here are the different activities we did this week. We had decorated our own faces using different materials, Draw My Favorite Things activity, Balloon experiment using vinegar and baking soda, and Create My Own Toy out of different recyclables such as boxes, toilet paper rolls, popsicles, tape and glue.
