Curriculum highlights

This week in our classroom, we had so much fun singing lots of new nursery rhymes! 🎶 Our recent favorite has definitely been 5 Green Speckled Frogs. The children get so excited counting down the frogs as they jump into the pool! Glub, glub! 🐸💦

I personally love this song because it introduces so many learning opportunities in such a fun and simple way. We’ve been practicing our numbers 1–5 as we count the frogs, and we also talked about frogs being part of the amphibian group. The children learned that frogs can live both on land and in water, and that they love to eat bugs which they found very interesting (and a little silly!). Throughout the week, we touched on all of these topics through songs, crafts, and movement activities.

On Tuesday, we worked on a fun frog craft. The children practiced their fine motor skills by tearing soft paper and sticking it onto their frog templates. We focused on the letter F — F is for Frog! Ribbit! 🐸 It was wonderful to see them concentrating so carefully on their work.

Wednesday brought lots of giggles with our “Feed the Frog” activity. The children had the chance to catch little bugs and feed the hungry froggies. This group activity was such a lovely way to practice taking turns and sharing.

On Thursday, we got our bodies moving with a gross motor activity inspired by our froggy friends. We talked about how frogs leap high into the air, and soon enough, we had a room full of little froggies jumping, leaping, and dancing along to fun music. So much energy and so many smiles! They all looked cute in their froggy headbands too!

Then on Friday, we had our very first field trip to the strawberry farm! 🍓 Despite the weather, it was so heartwarming to see you all there, enjoying the experience alongside your children. Thank you so much for taking the time to join us and make it such a special day.

We hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and we can’t wait to see everyone next week for more learning and fun! 😊
