Week 3 - April 25th, 2025

Hello, Orca Class families!

Our Pre-K and a Kinder friends this week were filled with lots of energy and eagerness to learn and play in school. They had so much fun interacting with their friends as they learned to be kinder and caring to one another.

Morning & Afternoon Meeting

Our morning meetings this week were so engaging and fun! First, we talked about our 8 classroom rules to guide them throughout the day.  Then, we started singing good morning song wherein we formed a circle and danced together as we say hello to everyone. It was such a joy seeing them laughing and holding each others' hands to begin our day. It was followed by checking our calendar time, assigning class jobs, doing a movement song and sharing about our whereabouts through our Class Dojo photos. In addition, we continued to practice for our  performance for our upcoming Sports day. They simply loved our chosen dance from Dany Go!

In the afternoon, we read a storybook and had mini discussion through asking WH-questions like why, what, where, when and how in order to enhance their story comprehension and enrich their vocabulary words. This week was also our Show and Tell week. It was wonderful to see and listen from our friends' photos and things that Blue group brought from our Spring theme. We had handmade flowers, Spring photos. We ended our day through reading a storybook and singing a goodbye song.

Language & Literacy

Pre-K

To jumpstart our Literacy time , we started talking about our Raz-Kids book entitled, "Too Many Sweets". We described the pictures and read aloud the words with everyone. Then, we also had Phonics Pp and learn more vocabulary words. In addition, we did some related Raz-Kids worksheets, P for polka dot craft and had a Phonics letter fishing game as a form of review. We aimed to enhance not only their literacy facet but also to lengthen their attention span and enhanced their focus and concentration which is essential to develop their skills and bodies holistically. It was an absolute fun!

Kinder

To jumpstart our Literacy time , we started talking about our Raz-Kids book entitled, "What's Your Breakfast?". We described the pictures and read aloud the sentences. We also asked them to read one sentence per each child to enhance their confidence and reading fluency. Then, we read an alphabet Raz-Kids book entitled, "Get the Peps" to talk about short vowel e. We also made a craft related to this topic, learned the sight word "see" and did some related worksheets.

Maths

Pre-K

For our Pre-K math lessons this week, we reviewed the numbers from 1-5 and made sure that we recognized, understood the value and the order of these numbers so that we have a good foundation of the basic numbers which will help us with math going forward for the school year. We did activities such as coloring by number, ordering a puzzle as well as made a number craft.

Kinder

Our Kinder level math for Week 3 was a continuation of the previous week where we compared the value of numbers by stating if a number is greater than (>), less than (<) or equal to (=) the following number. We then leveled up our math skills by stating the difference between the numbers and how much more one side is than the other, by asking the question "By how much?" We did some crafts as well as group activities to better understand the >,< and = signs.

Topic Exploration

This week, we talked about, "All About Me". We delved into understanding ourselves and appreciating our unique differences through sharing our likes and dislikes. We  read famous books, like "I Like Myself by Karen Beaumont and When I Grow Up by Yankovic", accomplished an All About Me worksheet; played and  musical instruments as we  listened to Batucadan's Tralala song to learn about fast and slow in music; drew ourselves on big paper for self-awareness; and made a "When I Grow Up "craft.  At this age, they begin to think about what they want to be when they grow up as they observe their environment. Hope you could visit our workwall after Golden Week to see what our friends' dream jobs!
