Curriculum highlights

Hello Seahorse friends and families!

It was such a great week for Seahorse Class, as we welcomed them back from Golden Week! It was a short week, but it was so much better than we expected and we are happy with the growth that they are showing. Our Seahorse friends came back more vocal and ready to learn new words ! Yaaay!

On Wednesday, we kick started our lessons with a sensory play. It was a flower planting session for our little ones. Showing them step by step how to plant a flower in the mini tins. They had to tear brown colored paper, (resembling soil) and work their fine motor skills whilst doing so!

On Thursday, we moved on to color sorting. This is a very essential skill that toddlers have to learn so as to develop their visual discriminatory skills, partial and eye coordination. All this to prep our toddlers for the next step. They not only sorted, but were saying out the color names as well!

On Friday, we made a beautiful flower craft for our mommies. They were so excited to make something that mommy would love. Our toddler friends had to paste small pieces onto the flower to make a beautiful flower collage, written, " I love you to pieces! "

Week 5 : Bugs and insects

Curriculum highlights
Since we are exploring spring, we also wanted to know what spring has to offer. It turns out, with flowers they attract insects and now we have to learn about them. Our most talked about insects were bees and ladybugs. We admired their beautiful color combinations and the bees buzzing sound!
On Monday, we enjoyed making the B for bees craft. To trigger their memory, we had to make a bee craft and see who remembers the colors it had. I must say, whenever glue is included in our activity, there is so much fun and concentration!

On Tuesday, we were on a mission to rescue insects that were stuck in our sensory bin. We used tongs for this activity, and they had to find a way to get one insect at a time without dropping it. This was just a great activity to develop the fine motor skills.

On Wednesday, we had an "I spy with my eyes ... " activity while gluing the insects onto their shadows. This is more like a matching activity , with a few insects.

On Thursday, We had an insect counting activity, but there was a catch. We had to use tongs and count from the sensory bin as we put them in our own small bowls. By this time, our Seahorse friends were familiar with a bee and a ladybug! New words to our vocabulary, Yaaay!

On Friday, we had to make a ladybug craft. They used paint, paper plates and black colored paper to complete the look. Our ladybugs looked so cute, and we were flexing our wrists as we were moving the paintbrush from side to side or  up and down!
