Hello Dolphin Friends and Families!

Morning & Afternoon Meeting

Last week we really practiced a lot preparing for Sports Day. We really practiced our dances to make sure we were confident going into the day! We also made sure to take brakes and dance to some fun new songs too!

This week was a lot more relaxed! We looked at photos from our friends, we do fun dances to wake us up in the morning, we make a calendar for the day, and we sing good morning! They really enjoy dancing all together! We also had a fire drill this week, so we had to put our emergency hoods on and sit downstairs. They did very well! This week was also Sakurako's Birthday! So, we all sang her Happy Birthday!

Language and Literacy

Last week we looked at the letter R! We looked at some words that started with R, we made a rain cloud, and we made a rocket that had our name on it! They really enjoyed making the rain cloud because of the fuzzy parts they got to glue on! They had a lot of fun putting the letters in the right order for the rocket too!

This week we looked at the letter M! We colored monkeys, we practiced tracing the letter, and we made monsters! Their tracing is getting really good! Their fine motor skills are greatly improving as the days go by! Also, they really enjoyed making the monsters because they got to glue everything exactly where they wanted it to go haha!

Math

Last week we looked at shapes. We started out the week by making a pizza, we used paper scissors for the first time! They all were pretty good at using them. They will definitely be more confident as the year progresses! Then we played eye spy with the different kinds of shapes to see if we could find them. Then we ended the week by gluing all the different shapes onto our pizza!

This week we looked at shapes again! This week we practiced tracing shapes, we did shape puzzles where we have to fill in the shapes in the right places, we played shape scavenger hunt where we have to find the different kinds of shapes, and we sorted shapes! They are really good at remembering the shapes!!

Topic Exploration

Last week's theme was flowers! So we learned all about flowers! We sang a song about flowers, we made a flower out of playdough, and we watched a video on how flowers grew!

This week our theme was insects! We colored a page with different insects on it, we read a special book about some different kinds of insects, and we painted a butterfly's wings!

Free Play!

Here are some pictures of our friends enjoying their playtime. We played at the park and the big room both this week and last week! They really love playing at both of these places!

Book of the Week

Our book of the week last week was Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!
