Curriculum highlights
This week was more of a hands-on activity as we tried to visualize ourselves at the beach and also explore ocean animals. We talked about ocean animals and try to imitate how they swim in the ocean. We also had songs that were so captivating and all we had to do was listen, dance and look for the ocean animals in our class.
On Tuesday, we had our first first beach sensory play of the week. Since the beach has so much to explore, we had fun learning new words like sea shells . Sounds like a tongue twister, but we managed to say it out loud and pick them as well.
On Wednesday, we decided to talk about beach wear and bring the beach to our Seahorse class. They tried on some sunglasses and covered themselves with umbrellas. We also got to see some floaters that we may use when we want to get in the water.
On Thursday, they had to sort land animals and sea animals. Just to build up from their knowledge on the different habitats of animals. We wanted them to give the animals the appropriate home for themselves. They got to sort them in two different boxes one representing land and the other representing water.
On Friday, as we wrap up the week, we decided to embark on a counting journey. Number sequencing is very important for them to master as it will help as they move on to other grades. Counting seashells wasn't as easy but it was fun to know each had their own. We then went on to color them so as to showcase our talents! We saw Batman, during our arcade walk and it was lots of fun!
