Hello, Orca Class families!

Morning & Afternoon Meeting

Our day started having a guessing game of our classroom rules wherein the teacher shared an example of a misbehavior and what classroom rule should we use to correct our behavior. Everyone were so good at telling which rule should be used.  Our morning meetings this week were truly meaningful! Then, we started singing good morning song wherein we formed a circle and danced together as we say hello to everyone. It was such a joy seeing them laughing and holding each others' hands to begin our day. It was followed by checking our calendar time, assigning class jobs, doing a movement song and sharing about our whereabouts through our Class Dojo photos. Moreover, we had our morning assembly headed by our Starfish teachers teaching us how to be a risk-taker through a guess the box activity. Our Orca friends had a box filled with pine cones. In addition, we had a Stranger Danger seminar this Friday and they learned so much about being safe from strangers too in our environment.

In the afternoon, we continued our Term 2  Show and Tell  this week. It was wonderful that our friends' different objects and photos about their favorite sports or games from Red group. It was engaging and meaningful as we tried to guess what our friends brought/showed. Our friends shared about a cataputl, swimming, baseball and rubics cube. Next week , it will be Blue group's turn. We ended our day through reading a storybook and singing a goodbye song.

Maths

Pre-K

These are the activities we did for this week. We started the week by playing a new game in which the children raced each other to see which team could sort a large number of balls into groups of the same color. Through this game we explored and described shapes, learnt about spatial awareness, and strengthened our motor skills by balancing and sorting balls into correct color coordinates. Later on in the week we made our own rulers to introduce the concept of measurement. We used these rulers to measure everyday objects found within our classroom and had the students record the length of the objects in centimeters. This activity helped us further fine tune our motor skills as the students cut and assembled their rulers by themselves. We also reinforced our understanding of counting and volume as the students counted how long each object was and had a visual representation of how much space the objected occupied (its volume).
