Week 23 - October 17th, 2025

Hello, Orca Class families!

Morning & Afternoon Meeting

Our morning meetings this week were truly engaging and meaningful! Then, we started singing good morning song wherein we formed a circle and danced together as we say hello to everyone. It was such a joy seeing them laughing and holding each others' hands to begin our day. It was followed by checking our calendar time, assigning class jobs, doing a movement song and sharing about our whereabouts through our Class Dojo photos. This week, we also had our earthquake drill at school and evacuated on the 1st floor. It was a smooth and quick one as everyone knew what to do the moment we heard the alarm.

In the afternoon, we continued our Term 2  Show and Tell  this week. It was wonderful that our friends' different objects and photos about something that keeps them healthy from blue group. It was engaging and meaningful as we tried to guess what our friends brought/showed. Our friends even asked a lot of question such as the shape, color, size, and if it can be eaten or not. Next week , it will be Red group's turn. We ended our day through reading a storybook and singing a goodbye song.

We described the pictures and read aloud the words with everyone. Then, we did our Jolly Phonics classroom and talked about phonics ``Xx`` this week through activities like singing a song, beginning ``Xx`` for xylophone craft, and a phonics worksheet. In addition, we  did a related Raz-Kids worksheet. We aimed to enhance not only their literacy facet but also to lengthen their attention span and enhanced their focus and concentration which is essential to develop their skills and bodies holistically.

Maths

Pre-K

For this week we focused on length and size using nonstandard units, alongside deepening our understanding of numbers 1-20. To enrich our studies we played some new games, made new crafts, and completed worksheets. We started this week by making a nonstandard ruler, using it to measure distance in intervals of 10, complementing some worksheets with addition up to 20. We then used triangular blocks to measure and record our heights, ordering ourselves from shortest to tallest in nonstandard units. Additionally, we introduced another new game in which the students drew two UNO cards, using the sum of those numbers to build the tallest building they could with the corresponding number of blocks. This activity allowed them to flex their creative muscle as they interacted with the weight of the blocks to manipulate its positioning for higher lengths. We finished the week with a interactive worksheet in which the students compared heights (in nonstandard units) of famous athletes and added the heights together to further focus on their addition skills.

For this week we focused on length, size using nonstandard units, and addition up to 40. To enhance our studies we started the week by playing a new game in which we measured the length of a small table in nonstandard units, using those same units as a path to roll a ball into cups with numbers up to 30 inside, adding the sums of two numbers together. We followed this activity by measuring common objects with a nonstandard ruler, adding the sum of three heights together multiple times which allowed us to further strengthen our addition skills. We played another game which involved rolling dice, adding or subtracting the two numbers in order to match the sum with UNO cards we held. We finished the week by measuring the length of how far we could jump with nonstandard units up to 40, placing large plushies at every 10th interval. Throughout the week we also complemented our studies with various worksheets focused on addition and subtraction with numbers up to 40.

Topic Exploration

For this week, we talked about Healthy Living. We learned how to keep our bodies healthy by doing different ways. These are the activities we did: yoga movement activity wherein kids do relaxing poses to help them become mindful of their bodies , imagination drawing activity to allow them to express their emotions through drawing, sorting healthy and unhealthy food race, unhealthy and healthy foods "What's in my lunch bag?" paired craft activity, Pretend Body Washing Activity using laminated girl and boy props, and a diy squeeze balloon to help them vent out their strong emotions in a positive way.
