Week 24 - October 24th, 2025

Hello, Orca Class families!

Morning & Afternoon Meeting

Our morning meetings this week were truly engaging and meaningful! Then, we started singing good morning song wherein we formed a circle and danced together as we say hello to everyone. It was such a joy seeing them laughing and holding each others' hands to begin our day. It was followed by checking our calendar time, assigning class jobs, doing a movement song and sharing about our whereabouts through our Class Dojo photos. This week, we also had Parents' Day week for both levels. It was a memorable time for our young learners having their parents while doing the activities in the classroom.

In the afternoon, we continued our Term 2  Show and Tell  this week. It was wonderful that our friends' different objects and photos about something outside Sendai from red group. It was engaging and meaningful as we tried to guess what our friends brought/showed. Our friends even asked a lot of question such as the shape, color, size, and if it can be eaten or not. Next week , it will be Red group's turn. We ended our day through reading a storybook and singing a goodbye song.

Language & Literacy

Pre-K

These are the activities we did from last week to this week. To jumpstart our Literacy time , we started talking about our Raz-Kids book entitled, "So Many Shops". We described the pictures and read aloud the words with everyone. Then, we did our Jolly Phonics classroom and talked about phonics ``ch`` this week through activities like singing a song, a phonics worksheet and BINGO Phonics review for letter sounds recognition. This was one of their favorite as they patiently waited to mark their cards with bottle caps and shout the word, "BINGO!". In addition, we  did a related Raz-Kids worksheet. We aimed to enhance not only their literacy facet but also to lengthen their attention span and enhanced their focus and concentration which is essential to develop their skills and bodies holistically.

Kinder

These are the activities we did for this week.  To jumpstart our Literacy time , we started talking about our Raz-Kids book entitled, "I Like My Hair!". We described the pictures and read aloud the sentences.  It was such a delight how Kinder students learn ask more questions as they began to expand their vocabulary words through reading.  Then, we reviewed about the past digraphs using Jolly Phonics, talked about  Phonics qu through a song matching word-picture, I Spy Qu words activities to enhance our understanding , and did some related Raz-Kids worksheets.  Last, we had a Word Bingo paired game to practice reading fluency.

Maths

Pre-K

For Week 24, the Pre-K students began their studies on 3-D shapes. We learned how to identify many shapes such as cylinders, cubes, spheres, and pyramids. Additionally, we also became able to associate these shapes to common objects we see in our everyday lives such as an ice cube or box being a cube or a pencil case or water bottle being a cylinder. We played many games to learn about 3-D shapes and supplemented our studies with many crafts (such as a bee-themed pencil case and personalized binoculars) and worksheets.

Kinder

For this week the Kinder students focused on learning more about weight distribution and concepts related to it such as uneven and even weight, balancing weight, and how to measure weight. We also focused a lot on addition and subtraction with sums up to 30. All of our students excelled in our addition and subtraction and studies. We are so proud with how accurate and fast they have been able to solve math equations. We made crafts (such as a weight balancing maze game in which the kids assembled a maze and had to guide a ball through the maze through manipulating their body weight), played many new games and completed some worksheets to enrich our studies.

Topic Exploration

Library Exploration Time

To continuously ignite our students' love for reading, we went to Izumi campus for a Library Exploration time with Dolphin friends wherein they had a wonderful time choosing and reading from so many books! One student even shared, "There's so many books! I saw a princess book! I like to borrow the big book!" Afterwards, we went to the outdoor playground and had a wonderful time playing and running with our friends!
