Week 25- 26 - November 7th, 2025

Hello, Orca Class families!

Morning & Afternoon Meeting

Our morning meetings this week were truly engaging and meaningful! Then, we started singing good morning song wherein we formed a circle and danced together as we say hello to everyone. It was such a joy seeing them laughing and holding each others' hands to begin our day. It was followed by checking our calendar time, assigning class jobs, doing a movement song and sharing about our whereabouts through our Class Dojo photos. Last week, we also had International Culture Festival for both Izumi and Aoba campuses. It was a festive and memorable time for our young learners venturing to different booths while learning their cultures from our very own native teachers. Thank you to our dearest families for joining us in this special event!

In the afternoon, we continued our Term 2  Show and Tell  this week. It was wonderful that our friends' different objects and photos about our Community Helpers from Red group. It was engaging and meaningful as we tried to guess what our friends brought/showed. Our friends even asked a lot of question such as the shape, color, size, and if it can be eaten or not. Next week , it will be Red group's turn. We ended our day through reading a storybook and singing a goodbye song.

Then, we did some phonics review and continuously singing our phonics song and vowels song to enhance our phonics recognition.   In addition, we  did a related Raz-Kids worksheet. We aimed to enhance not only their literacy facet but also to lengthen their attention span and enhanced their focus and concentration which is essential to develop their skills and bodies holistically.

Maths

Pre-K

For Week 25, the Pre-K students continued to learn about 3-D shapes. We focused on shape recognition and identifying common objects as their respective 3-D shapes. We made many crafts and played a few games to strengthen our understanding. Moving into Week 26, we shifted our focus to Japanese yen, bettering our knowledge of coins, their values, and how to use them for shopping. We also used the values of the coins as a basis for addition and subtraction. We made many crafts, such as a wallet, a coin jar, and even used real coins as stamps.

Kinder

For Week 25, the Kinder students focused on capacity. We reviewed weight and weight distributions as well, as this topic directly correlates with capacity. We made crafts and even hosted a science experiment in which we used straws to move water between cups, comparing their capacities and weights. For Week 26, we shifted our focus to Japanese yen, learning about coins and paper bills. We studied their values and used those values for addition and subtraction practice. We made many crafts, such as our own wallets, and we even role-played shopping at an ice cream shop, using fake money to choose our desired ice cream flavors and toppings.

Topic Exploration

This week was filled with many fun adventures and new experiences. Our topic time this week consisted of learning about pets. We discussed what kinds of pets we liked, have, or wanted. We learnt about the many facets and responsibilities of owning a pet as well and how we need to provide proper environments in order to care for them. To accomplish this we made some crafts; such as a 3-D turtle, a fish tank filled with lovely fishes, sea weeds, and bubbles, and a painting of a parrot. We also supplemented our studies with a few educational videos. Previously, we also discussed many countries and cultures from around the world. We studied various languages, specifically common phrases, and also had many teachers/visitors host presentations about their home countries. These presentations were always followed by a craft or game relating to the culture we studied that day. It felt like a grand adventure as we explored the world through our classroom activities.
