Week 27 - November 14th, 2025

Hello, Orca Class families!

Morning & Afternoon Meeting

Our morning meetings this week were truly engaging and meaningful! Then, we started singing good morning song wherein we formed a circle and danced together as we say hello to everyone. It was such a joy seeing them laughing and holding each others' hands to begin our day. It was followed by checking our calendar time, assigning class jobs, doing a movement song and sharing about our whereabouts through our Class Dojo photos. Last Monday, we also had an Emergency Earthquake drill to help and teach our dearest Orcas what to do in case of an emergency.  In addition, we had our morning assembly headed by our Dolphin teachers sharing another character trait called, Principled.

In the afternoon, we continued our Term 2  Show and Tell  this week. It was wonderful that our friends' different objects and photos about our Community Helpers from Blue group. It was engaging and meaningful as we tried to guess what our friends brought/showed. Our friends even asked a lot of question such as the shape, color, size, and if it can be eaten or not. Next week , it will be about Products from Animals and it will be Red group's turn. We ended our day through reading a storybook and singing a goodbye song.

Language & Literacy

Pre-K

For this week, we talked about our Raz-Kids book entitled, "I am community Helper". We described the pictures and read aloud the words with everyone. Then, we did some phonics review and continuously singing our phonics song and vowels song to enhance our phonics recognition.   In addition, we  did a related Raz-Kids worksheet. We aimed to enhance not only their literacy facet but also to lengthen their attention span and enhanced their focus and concentration which is essential to develop their skills and bodies holistically.

Kinder

To jumpstart our Literacy time , we talked about our Raz-Kids book entitled, "Community Worker ". To enhance our understanding, we did a related worksheet  too. Furthermore, we also learned about another phonics sound "oi" through singing a song, Jolly Classroom, and made a boiling pot craft with written oi words.

Last, we had a reading time too wherein they would make a tally of the books that they read on a paper that we would use for our reading cards to boost their confidence in reading and comprehension. This week too we have been practicing our lines and songs for our Celebration of Learning.

Maths

Pre-K

During this week, Pre-K students learned about short and tall in terms of height, size, and scale. We explored many methods to familiarize ourselves with this topic such as making our own colorful versions of Tokyo Skytree, comparing the sizes of many animals, and incorporating physical activities such as measuring how high we could jump or how low/short we could make ourselves. We also spent some more time with number via addition up to 20 and reviewing numbers up to 10.

Kinder

This week the Kinder students learned about American currency. We reviewed the different values of coins and bills, as well as learning the terms: cents and dollars. We also studied other methods of payment such as credit cards. We enriched our studies with handling real American coins and role-playing shopping at an Ice Cream shop and using American money to pay for our orders. We also worked on subtraction and addition up to 40 this week as our Kinder Orcas become more comfortable with higher values of numbers each and every week.

Topic Exploration

This week entailed our Orcas learning about the many important jobs found within our community, ranging from firemen, police officers, construction workers, doctors, and more! We had an array of activities relating to this topic as well as an abundance of community visitors visiting us to enhance our studies. We've learnt so much this past week and have no doubt been inspired by our local heroes! We had so much fun listening and learning from all the presentations hosted this week. We also had hands-on experience using real tools found within each job we learnt about. Thank you all for your time, effort, and dedication! Our Orcas are truly so lucky to be a part such a wonderful, inspiring community!
