Hello, Orca Class families!
Morning & Afternoon Meeting
Our morning meetings this week were truly engaging and meaningful! Then, we started singing good morning song wherein we formed a circle and danced together as we say hello to everyone. It was such a joy seeing them laughing and holding each others' hands to begin our day. It was followed by checking our calendar time, assigning class jobs, doing a movement song and sharing about our whereabouts through our Class Dojo photos. This week, we also had our health check-up to keep our bodies healthy and strong. While waiting for their turn, they read books in the big room.
In the afternoon, we continued our Term 2 Show and Tell this week. It was wonderful that our friends' different objects and photos about something from animal products from Red group. It was wonderful what others brought such as dairy products, wool, chicken soup base and even a shark toy to tell everyone that sharks flesh can be eaten too. What an interesting animal products! It was engaging and meaningful as we tried to guess what our friends brought/showed. Our friends even asked a lot of question such as the shape, color, size, and if it can be eaten or not. Next week , it will be Blue group's turn. We ended our day through reading a storybook and singing a goodbye song.
Language & Literacy
Pre-K
For this week, we talked about our Raz-Kids book entitled, "Animals Can Move". We described the pictures and read aloud the words with everyone. Then, we learned about "qu" through Jolly Phonics and a quack craft wherein they pasted their ducks and wrote a sentence about it. In addition, we did some phonics review using our booklets and continuously singing our phonics song and vowels song to enhance our phonics recognition. We aimed to enhance not only their literacy facet but also to lengthen their attention span, fine motor skills, and enhanced their focus and concentration which is essential to develop their skills and bodies holistically.
Kinder
To jumpstart our Literacy time , we talked about our Raz-Kids book entitled, "Animal Horns ". To enhance our understanding, we did a related worksheet through a paired group wherein they worked together to compare two animals and wrote down their ideas too. Furthermore, we also learned about another phonics sound "ue" through singing a song, Jolly Classroom, and a related worksheet. Every Friday, we did a review on our phonics through our booklets and a "build a sentence" worksheet to assess their sight words reading and fluency.
This week too we have been practicing our lines and songs for our Celebration of Learning.
Maths
Pre-K
For Pre-K mathematics this week, we focused on addition with numbers up to 20. We made some crafts and played some new games to enrich our studies. Our Orcas have been making great progress recently with their addition skills and are so proud!
Kinder
For Kinder mathematics, we focused on skip counting and reviewed currency as this gave us more opportunities to practice skip counting. We role-played ordering from sushi restaurants and buying snacks at a convenience store, adding our total costs and using the bills/coins as a basis to skip count. We also made some crafts as well to further enhance our studies.
