Morning & Afternoon Meeting
For morning meeting and afternoon meeting this week we had a lot of fun doing different things together! The kids really enjoy making a train and moving fast and slow around the classroom while we are singing the good morning song. We are also playing the sequencing game to work on muti-step instructions. They are having a ton of fun with it! Everyone is always so happy and excited in the mornings.
Language and Literacy
This week we looked at a new sound, 'oo'! We practiced writing different 'oo' words and talked about them! We made some Cool 'oo' glasses using different 'oo' words! We had to match words with friends in the classroom by asking, "Do you have moon? or Do you have pool?". then, we used spoons with 'oo' written on the back to fill in words that have 'oo' missing. They had a lot of fun this week!
Math
This week we looked at size again! We cut out different pictures and then we had to think if they are big or small. After we decided we glued them onto the page! They did really great with this! We worked in groups to put paper on one friends back while the other drew on the table. One friend drew different sized shapes on their back and the other student had to try to draw the same sized shapes. We made a big bear and a small bear by cutting. Then, we went to the big room to see who could make the biggest tower. We partnered into small groups and stacked things in the big room to see who could make the bigger one. We also tried a big ball and small ball relay to see which ball was harder to move.
Topic Exploration
This week's topic exploration was Valentine's Day! We decorated hearts and used them for a movement game where we had to put our hands and feet on different colored hearts. Then, we used watered down paint to color hearts made from paper towels. The paper towels grew when they absorbed the water! The kids were really surprised when it happened! Then, we made special cards for our family! They were so excited to make the cards.
